1931 Original Practice Location

1931

  • Cyral Ferman started a wholesale optical business in Detroit, MI.

1951

  • Cyral’s son, William, also known as Dr. Bill, graduated from Illinois College of Optometry and joined a practice in Detroit, MI.

1957

  • Dr. Bill opened his first Ferman Optometry practice on Greenfield Dr. in Detroit, MI.

1969

  • Dr. Bill’s son, Ted, went to work for his dad as an optical technician in the lab.

1977

1977 Whole Family Business

  • The business moved to Plymouth, MI.
  • Dr.Bill’s son, Dr. Greg, joined the practice. For several years, Ferman Optometry was very much a family practice, with Bill’s wife Lee managing the reception desk and their daughter, Sue, handling the books.

1990

  • Ted became a board-certified optician.

1997

  • Dr. Bill and Lee retired to Clermont, FL.
  • Dr. Greg was joined by Dr. Andy Ealovega.

2017

  • Dr. Greg retired to Branson, MO.

2019

  • The office underwent an extensive remodel.
    • Completely new frame room.
    • Completely new reception area.
    • Updated examination rooms.
    • Updated lighting and flooring.
